Andrew Clark is an English born Canadian citizen, singer songwriter. Born in Derby in the midlands of England Andrew was educated at Leeds Grammar School (royal charter given in 1552) and went on to train as a doctor at Leeds University, qualifying in 1979.
After interning for a year he moved to Newfoundland's south coast and spent 4 years as a family doctor in Harbour Breton where he continued to play guitar and write songs. He can be seen in Facebook videos playing and writing songs in his scrubs outside of the operating room or while on call.
His first guitar was a 16th birthday present, but his first nice guitar was an Epiphone later on in life. Andrew now has a small studio where he writes his music and has an extensive collection of collector guitars.
He moved to Halifax Nova Scotia to train as an anesthesiologist in1984 and took up practice in Saint John New Brunswick where he now lives and creates his songs.
Andrew has been writing songs since age 17, he has been on local, regional and national radio. He won an international songwriting competition in the USA and has 3 albums to date “Plain English” ”Servant to the Music” “Thinking Man” With a fourth in production by Paul Milner (Headstones, Matt Andersen, Keith Richards, eddy Grant, Larry Norman). Singles from the new project feature performances by classical singer Andrew Martin, Tomato Tomato, Mike Biggar, Kim Dunn and countless other musicians..
Andrew plays guitar, banjo,ukulele, mandolin, Irish bouzouki ,and penny whistle and is learning piano.
His major influences are James Taylor, Sting, Ralph McTell for songwriting and Tommy Emmanuel for all things guitar. Classical music also looms large in his musical style. Tommy has been a tremendous inspiration, friend and mentor to Andrew over the years. Has joined him onstage and has praised his songwriting style. Andrew has a publishing deal with 428 Entertainment and is focused on writing songs in collaboration with others releasing singles rather than complete albums.
